About Gamstop Guide
We are not GAMSTOP. Gamstop Guide is an independent self-help resource. We have no connection with GAMSTOP, Gamstop Online, the Gambling Commission or any gambling business, and we cannot register, change or remove a self-exclusion. The official national self-exclusion scheme is at gamstop.co.uk.
Who we are
Gamstop Guide is a free self-help website run by Gamstop Guide Ltd. It exists for one reason: to help people who want to cut down or stop gambling, and the people around them, find clear information and the right support quickly. The name describes what the site is about, which is self-exclusion and stopping gambling. It does not mean we are part of the national scheme.
What we do
- Explain the signs that gambling has become a problem, in plain language
- Set out every way to block gambling in the UK, step by step
- Share practical self-help ideas for handling urges, triggers and money
- Point people to free support services, with contact details we check
- Publish a reference table, built from the Gambling Commission’s public register, showing which online operators hold a licence and are therefore covered by GAMSTOP
What we do not do
We want to be completely clear about our limits, because getting the right help matters.
- We are not a charity, a registered support organisation or a treatment provider.
- We do not have counsellors, advisers or a helpline of our own.
- We cannot see, register, change or remove anyone’s GAMSTOP exclusion, bank block or venue exclusion.
- We do not give medical, legal or financial advice.
For any of those things, please go straight to the real services: GAMSTOP at gamstop.co.uk, the National Gambling Helpline on 0808 8020 133 (run by GamCare), NHS gambling services through the NHS website, Gamblers Anonymous, GamFam, StepChange or Citizens Advice for debt, and Samaritans on 116 123 in a crisis.
No commercial interests
This site is entirely non-commercial. We do not accept money, sponsorship or payment of any kind from gambling companies. We do not link to gambling websites, we do not promote any operator and there are no adverts anywhere on the site. Operators named in our register table appear only because they hold a Gambling Commission licence, in alphabetical order and without links, so that readers can check who their exclusion covers.
How we check information
We base our pages on official and primary sources: the Gambling Commission, Gamstop Online, the NHS and the support services themselves. We check contact details and key facts when we update a page, and we say where a fact comes from. Services do change their hours and arrangements, so their own websites are always the final word. If you spot something that is out of date, please let us know at [email protected].
